Mom turns 50!

Last night after commencement we threw a surprise party for my Mom. It was great! She had no idea and was so surprised when she walked in and saw us standing there. We felt a little bad deceiving her into thinking that we all were making her birthday as almost forgotten, but it was great to surprise her with this party that my dad organized long distance from Oregon. Happy Birthday Mom!

The Faces of Spring

Five days ago we woke up to about 6 inches of snow on the ground. I tried to keep the boys inside, but finally gave in to their wishes, pulled the winter clothes out of the box and let them go play in it. They had a lot of fun sliding down the hill, hopefully for the last time this season. Today, it was 75 degrees or more. Some boys in the neighborhood got a hold of a hose and soon a waterfight started. Josh and Nathan got into their swim trunks and had blast. It's amazing how fast the weather can change, but I'm grateful for the change it's finally taken. It was a beautiful day!

Ahhhhh...a mini vacation

We've been so incredibly busy these past few weeks (and dealing with illnesses on top of that), that we decided to get away for a couple of days and see some places here in Utah that we've never been. It was so nice- we packed up, got in the car and drove until we felt like stopping. We starting out going to Manti. What in the world is in Manti? Well, ever since I've been doing geneology we've wanted to go there. See, Sean and I have a couple of ancestors who were really good friends in the early days of the church. Isaac Morley (Sean's) and Edwin Whiting (mine), both joined the church in Ohio. Isaac Morley is more well known for his farmland the church now owns in Kirtland that Joseph and Emma lived on for awhile (go see it if you ever have the chance). Well, one day when I was reading in the Work and Glory, I came across both of their names, serving in a bishopric together in Yelrome, (Morley spelled backwards), a settlement south of Nauvoo. Later in my research I found that they were both sent to settle the city of Manti, althought Edwin Whiting later left and moved back to Springville. Did you follow all that? So anyway, we found Isaac Morley's grave in the cemetary there yesterday, and also came across another of Sean's ancestor's graves, William Fowler, who wrote, "We Thank Thee, Oh, God, For a Prophet."

Is that neat or what! Sean has some amazing people in his lineage. Here are some pictures. It was also amazing to see the temple there. It was absolutely beautiful.

We got back in the car and headed south again, but decided to stop in Richfield when the boys got tired. It was so nice. We stopped, got a hotel and went swimming, and then went to McDonald's for dinner to let the boys play. Afterwards, we went back to relax at the hotel with no phone or computer to bother us. It was great!

The next morning we drove to Kolob Canyons in Zion National Park and hiked for about two and half hours. It was absolutely beautiful! Like I said before, in the almost six years we've lived here, we'd never been there, and it was fun to take the boys to such a fun place.

Josh and Nathan took these last pictures. They did a good job!

Nathan's Three!

After having so much fun at Chuck E. Cheese during Isaac's birthday, Nathan was excited to go back. We had a lot of fun again, going there last night to celebrate because Sean had a long day today. We got these pictures taken this time- aren't they fun? It's a great place.

We are so grateful for Nathan. It's amazing that he's three years old now. He's growing up so fast, and is looking forward to getting an insulin pump in a couple weeks. He does so well with his diabetes, that people have no idea that he has it unless we tell them. He's always happy, and always a joy to be around. He's become Josh's best friend over this last year and they're always together when Josh isn't at school.

"Live Savers!", to quote Nathan.

BYU Preschool

Today we got to to Joshua's preschool class to see what they've been learning about bodies and skeletons. He showed us where several parts of the body are, like the heart, lungs, stomach, and intestines.

He showed Daddy several of the tools that doctor's use, like ace bandages, stethoscopes, otoscopes, patella hammers, and syringes.

Here,he showed us how the kids traced each other on paper and then labeled the parts of their bodies.

He showed us x-rays and what bones they were of.

Outside they had an obstacle course, with the directions on this board. He had some funny faces!

Crab Walk

We had a great time! The BYU preschool has been such a wonderful experience this year. We can't believe he'll be done next week! He's learned so much. We're so proud of him!
