Isaac's 4th Birthday

Isaac is four! It's hard to believe that this little guy is four already.  He was our first child that I really felt like was growing up too fast. He crawled and walked faster than his brothers and weaned himself at ten months. Our little guys was a toddler before I could turn around. He's been such a joy to have in our family. He has a personality very similar to Sean- he's very confident and determined, very smart and quick to learn, and also has a sensitive side. He's athletic and competitive, and he's never cared that he's younger than his brothers, he thinks he can do everything they can do.

Isaac was sooo excited for his birthday this. The kids always start anticipating their birthdays once Josh has his, and to Isaac two months seemed like forever. He was so excited that he asked if he open his presents first thing after he woke up. I let him open the card from Grandma and Grandpa Morrison.

He had Cinnamon Toast Crunch for breakfast. Yep, this kid is a cereal boy all the way. Even when Sean makes pancakes, or waffles on the weekends, he still wants cereal.

Later that morning we made the cake. After trying several different things with cakes, we've finally decided just to let the kids pick out a toy to put on top, and never buy one from a bakery again.  It's cheaper, doesn't have gross frosting that stains and gets all over everything, and the  toys actually last.  Plus the boys enjoy helping make the cake and decorating it.Isaac picked a dark chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. They helped me mix it up and then they went to work putting together the Lego power ranger car that Isaac had picked out.

Nathan helped Isaac decorate the cake. They did a pretty good job!

With his cake

After Nathan went to school I took Isaac out to take some pictures. At first he was silly and didn't want to cooperate. When he started rolling all over the ground I thought I take advantage of the pose, and finally got some cooperation.

Then I started getting some good ones.

My favorite

Chuck E. Cheese for dinner of course. We 'd been super busy and we hadn't had a chance to take Josh and Nathan shopping , though I had been able to pick up a few things myself. Josh was especially upset because he really wanted to get something for Isaac. We met Sean at Toys 'R US on the way there and I dropped off the older two so  Sean could take them in to pick something out. I took Isaac and Hannah over to get the pizza ordered. Sean and the boys came a little bit later.

Blue and Gold Banquet

Josh had his first Blue and Gold banquet last night and got to be in the color guard. He did a great job.
Waiting for it to start.

Carrying the flag around.

Waiting for the pledge.

Josh got his religious knot badge. He worked really hard and did all the requirements in about six weeks.

Great job Buddy!

He also got his Bobcat badge. Of course they did the traditionall pinning it upside down. Sean joked that he was glad that we've been weight lifting- Josh is a big kid!

Pinning it on.

With his proud parents. Nathan and Isaac are wandering around in front.

They had some fun activities after the dinner and awards. It was a cowboy theme, and they had cowboy games..

Josh had made a stick horse a few weeks before at cub scouts, and here's Isaac using it in the barrel racing.

They gave each of the kids bandanas and broke them up into groups by color.

Tug -of -war

Hannah did great, though she was a bit tired by the end.

Listening to the story by the fire.

Lassoing the steer

Josh's turn to race. He kept gettting matched up with kids a couple years oler than him.

He still won.

Getting ready to jump over the snake.

Sean got this great picture.

Pterodactyls

Mopping day always turns into an obstacle course of some sort as the boys enjoy climbing, running and jumping on the chairs and benches that I've moved off the kitchen floor.  This time Nathan and Isaac got creative and decided to pretend to be pterodactyls, making themselves wings out of plastic bags.

Hannah's Ten Months!

Hannah's had an exciting month this last month. She learned how to crawl and got her first tooth on the same day, and then pulled herself up to a stand the next day in the bathtub.  A week later she figured out how to get herself up into a seated position. And so yes, she is all over the house!
She's well on her way to eating "normal" food all the time now, (Yay! I'm not a huge fan of baby food) especially enjoying canned green beans, corn, and fresh pears.
Watching the boys in the backyard.

You can barely see the top of her new tooth. It's catching the light.

Got to figure out how to block the stairs off.

Another perfect position to pull her socks off!

We also took a trip to see the dermotologist this month, ( I made the appointment back in October) for this little thing. Apparently this birthmark on her head gives her about a 1% chance of getting melanoma at some point in her life. The doctor referred me to a plastic surgeon to get it removed. It could possibly require multiple surgeries and some scary sounding skin stretching techniques to get it fixed.  Hmmmmm. Sean and I are not liking this idea.

I got her some new headbands. At first she pulled them off right after I put them on her head. Now that she's used to them, they last about twenty minutes.
