Summer Reading Program

The kids always enjoy doing the summer reading program for the prizes, but this year we added something extra. We challenged the kids to read an entire chapter out of the Book of Mormon each day. They'll get a prize at the end of the summer if they do it. So far so good! They've earned their t-shirts for completing the library program and are still going strong.

David and Kendra got married!

We have a new sister-in-law/aunt! David and Kendra got married on a beautiful Saturday morning in the Portland Oregon temple. Sean's parents picked him up from the airport so he could make it there in time. It was a beautiful ceremony performed Pres. Christensen and longtime family friend. They both looked so happy and wonderful as they walked out. We took pictures on the grounds and then went to the Persimmon Country Club for the wedding lunch. That evening they had their reception at the Wheelhouse in Albany. Lots of friends and family came and it was a wonderful evening.

Cub Scout Day Camp

Thanks to Mom and Dad Morrison for coming up for the week and watching the kids for me so I could go to cub camp with Josh and Nathan! It was a fun, but long week and I was grateful to be able to spend some time with the older two boys.

In their t-shirts and with their flags getting ready to head off to camp.
They did all the usual- BB's, archery, obstacle course, whittling, cooking over a fire and crafts galore.

Nathan's group doing their skit the first day. The invisible bench.

The wood making was a wagon this year.

Bottle rockets were a hit.

Josh's group made up their own skit. Josh played a giant with a white beard.

4th of July

We went to the lake again this year for the 4th of July. It was beautiful and sunny and we had a great time. We drove down Thursday night after Sean got home from work. We had hamburgers, roasted hot dogs, made smores and dough boys and stayed up late having fun with family. All of my siblings were there including David's fiancé Kendra!

On Friday morning a group decided to get up early and go fishing. Sean joked that it was a typical fishing trip, without catching anything, but everyone had fun anyway.

There was a boy's dream climbing tree in our camp spot, so you can guess where Isaac spent much of his time.

We played baseball, football, and of course we went out boating! The boys enjoyed trying out the new tube.

Grandpa let Hannah steer when we were going slow. She was in heaven!

Poor Kendra got stung by a bee right before we got on the boat. She got a bad allergic reaction, but was a good sport about it.
Emma enjoyed it once she realized the life jacket wasn't SO horrible.

The boys wanted to go swimming before we went to see the fireworks, and Grandpa humored them. I was impressed that they went in even with how cold it was!

The girls found a fresh dirt pile that some squirrels had made (they were like gophers, burrowing everywhere!) and had a great time getting all dirty. Can't go camping without dirt!

I made my annual flag cake with the help of Nathan and Isaac this year. I think Hannah decided to sample some before I could cover it up.
I made this mistake of thinking we couldn't do sparklers in the park we went to, to watch the fireworks, so we did them at the house after we got home.
