Grandpa Frome Visits

The day after we got back from Nauvoo, my dad flew into to visit for the week! We were spoiled with family! We did some fun outings like the zoo and swimming, and he was a big help getting the boys ready for their first day of school, especially for me because Sean had to take a last minute business trip.
Hannah loved him. Here they are at the zoo waiting for the Cheetah show.

With all the kids. They weren't happy that Grandpa had to go home.

First Day of School!

Summer Vacation is officially over in the Morrison home. Wow, the last few weeks have flown. I need to do some catch-up blogging, but for now- the first day of school.

Joshua, the big third grader.

Isaac, the preschooler. Preschool actually doesn't start for a couple more weeks, but he was ready to go anyway, including his lunch.

Nathan, the first-grader. So excited to go for the entire day. I had to hide how nervous I was to give up some of my over-protective, Nazi type power in his diabetes care. The nurse and his teacher are wonderful though, so I'm sure he'll be fine.
Our three handsome boys! They were up and ready almost an hour and a half early.

My dad took this picture of us ready to walk to school. I was so glad to have him there to help, since Sean had a take a last minute business trip.
All set to go in! Isaac told me he was going in too. He's sooooo excited for his school to start.

Trail of Hope

We took the kids down one of the most special places in Nauvoo Saturday afternoon.

It's amazing to picture hundreds of families and wagons all lined up along Parley St, waiting to cross the river to begin their journey west, being forced from their beautiful city, home, and beloved temple.
Sean, Josh, and I each took turns reading each sign as we walked along toward the Mississippi River.
The view of the temple. The first time we came to Nauvoo four years ago we got our first glimspe of it from the other side. The sight was definitely worth the extra drive.

The boys tried skipping rocks in the river when we got there.
The river is much wider now than it was back then. The shore was almost out to that buoy.

Last time we were here the river was flooding so high that this "ferry" was surrounded by water.

Nauvoo Day 2

I apologize in advance for the crazy number of pictures in this post. Saturday was our full day in Nauvoo, and the kids were up early and ready to go when everything started, so out we went!

We started off with the carriage ride. The kids loved looking at the big horses.
Hannah was a bit of a handful on our trip, so we gave her an opportunity to get down and walk whenever we could.

With the horses that pulled us.
Their favorite was the Pioneer Pastimes. I think we spent over an hour there.

Hannah's outfit lasted about 30 seconds. Doesn't she look cute though?

Handsome boys!

The next was the wagon ride through town. We were supposed to meet Sean's parents there, but they were running late and their cell phone wasn't working to call us.

Our little angel finally fell asleep.

We went back and enjoyed some more games.

Stick Pull!

At first I thought these sticks were crutches. They were for another game. Oops!
