Memorial Day Weekend

We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! We had a fun, full relaxing weekend as a family. We started off by going to a park for a picnic and a walk around the trail. Here's Sean and the boys enjoying it.

I wish I had taken our camera around the trail. We saw lots of birds, including ducks, geese and a blue heron. When we saw some geese, I said to Isaac, "Look at the geese Isaac."

He answered, "Noooo, it's a duck!"

Sean and I smiled at each other.

Later, when we saw the blue heron I said, "Look, it's blue heron!"

He answered, "Noooo, it's a geese!"

You have to love our stubborn, independent 3-yr-old!

The evening we went to see Kung Fu Panda 2. Fun movie!

On Sunday evening we had some friends over for a BBQ. The boys wanted to camp out in the back yard, so they helped us set up the tent.

Sean and the boys the next morning. It was a really warm night, so I'm not sure a lot of sleeping happened, but they had fun!

On Monday Sean took the boys on a 6 mile bike ride! Josh and Nathan rode their bikes, and Sean pulled Isaac in the trailer. Afterwards we went to our annual ward picnic. They a bounce house for the kids. Of course it was a hit!

Isaac wouldn't slow down long enough for me to get a picture. Why is he wearing a skeleton costume? (We were asked about it all day.) A family gave us a bag of their old costumes after church on Sunday, and Isaac found this one, the Spiderman and Hulk gloves, put them on and wouldn't take them off. He also had a pair of sunglasses that he couldn't wear in the bounce house.

Josh playing corn hole.

They got cars painted on their hands at the face painting station.

A spider on each of their faces.

With his glasses.

The boys enjoyed the sprinkler that afternoon. It was a hot day!

Madalyn's Hat

Hannah's cousin knitted her an adorable hat. Doesn't it look cute on her? Thanks Madalyn! You did a great job!

Preschool Graduation

Nathan had his Preschool End of the Year Party on Friday. They invited everyone's families to come. I took Isaac and Hannah and enjoyed spending the morning with Nathan. They started out with some games.

A drinking straw race.
A balloon race.
Another balloon race with his friend Caden.

They sang some songs for us. This one is "I'm a Little Teapot".

Getting his diploma with from his teacher. He was making funny faces because he was so excited.

Posing with his medal they got at the end for doing such a great job with all the games.

A Break from the Rain

After having the rainiest April on record (which is causing all the flooding in the south now) and a rainy May as well, we've enjoying the few warm, sunny days we have had. I most I've dare try so far with a newborn and these kids has been a walk to the park, and a playgroup at McDonald's, so it's been nice to have so much to do here at home.

On Thursday it actually got up to almost 90 degrees, and the boys convinced me to get out the kiddie pool on the patio.

Sean found this turtle in the yard when he was mowing the lawn. The boys had fun with him for a little while.

Sidewalk chalk- always fun.

Nathan rides a bike!

Nathan learned to ride his bike without training wheels last night. First he tried using our neighbors' little bike. Sean said that he put Nathan on, head him steady for a second, gave him little push and away he went. He was definitely ready. A little bit later Sean took the training wheels of Nathan's bike and he quickly got the hang of that one.

Best Mother's Day Ever

Sean and the boys made Mother's Day extra special for me this year. About a week before Nathan told me that he had painted a gift for me at school, but he wasn't going to tell me what it was, because it was a surprise. He was so excited! On Wednesday, when he got dropped off from school he yelled, "Happy Mother's Day!" as he walked in the door. He was holding a little pot that he had painted that had little paper flowers in it. On the pot was written, "My mommy is special because...", and the flowers said, "she gives me kisses" and "she loves me". He was so proud of it and told me he had planted grass seed in it.

Nathan with his flower pot.

OnThursday, Josh brought home a similar gift. Josh with his flower.

Josh was so excited about Mother's Day this year. On Friday he brought home another surprise and ran up and hid it in his room. Saturday morning he asked me what I wanted for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and carefully wrote everything down on a piece of paper. Sean took all three of the boys out that morning to go shopping. Just having a quiet house with just Hannah and I was a gift in of itself. The boys picked out these flowers for me.

Sunday morning, Sean and Josh got up early and made me a wonderful waffle breakfast. When I came downstairs, there were gifts and cards on the counter waiting for me!

Josh gave me a poem with a handprint and a card. The family got me these-

I broke the food processor we got for our wedding a couple of months ago. It's not something I use all the time, but when I make broccoli cheese soup, jam or can salsa, etc. it's a lifesaver, and I was really upset. Sean surprised me by getting a really nice KitchenAid. I'm really excited to make jam now!

I've been wanting a laminator for awhile, and hinted to Sean when I saw one for a good deal at Costco. My first project- to finish laminating my recipe cards.

We actually had a pretty smooth morning getting to church by 9:00. (I just went to sacrament meeting) and afterwards we had ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch. Isaac with the sign he made for me in Nursery.

Sean made a wonderful Lasagna dinner that evening and we had brownies for dessert, yum!

Thank you Honey and boys for the best Mother's Day ever!

Hannah's Two Weeks Old!

I finally got a picture that captures her personality a little bit with her pretty blue eyes. She has been such a sweet baby and is so much fun to have in our family. She's starting to sleep a little bit better, only waking up once in the middle of the night and once really early in the morning and goes back to sleep immediately after I feed her. The boys love picking out her clothes for her, holding her, rocking her, and watching her funny newborn facial expressions. I'd forgotten how much time a newborn takes, but I'm truely enjoying having this new, precious little gift from Heaven in our home.

District Art Show

Josh's artwork was chosen to be shown in the school district art show on Friday. He was one of two kids from his class. When we got to the high school where it was held, he was given a paper flower to wear.

He was a little embarrassed.

He did a great job!
