First Day of School

The boys started school on Thursday! Wow, did the summer fly! Unfortunately I came down with the worst stomach flu of my life the day before, (I'm finally recovering) and barely had the energy to see them out to the bus, much less drive them to school and take them to their classes like I usually do.

Luckily Josh, who was very aware that I was sick, got himself totally ready by himself, including packing his own lunch. Thankfully I had bought a lunchable as a special treat for the first day. He was so excited that he wanted to head out about 25 minutes early- I made him wait until about 10 min. early, and the bus was still 10 minutes late, typical of the first day. Another reason I like to take them myself.

Nathan, the Kindergartner!

Isaac

Nathan, waiting for the Kindergarten bus. It was 20 minutes late! Hopefully it will get better soon.

He was sooo excited to ride the bus.

Can you see him in there? He has a huge grin on his face! I got tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat as they drove off. Does it get any easier sending your babies off to Kindergarten? Wow, he's grown up fast!

Four Months!

I just love this little girl's smile. Even during the most frustrating of moments (generally speaking- I don't get frustrated with her) it warms my heart. I'm so grateful that she's been such an easy baby. Four kids has been fun, but very very busy!

She's just starting to reach out for objeccts and is can almost roll over from her back to her front. She rolls on to her side and just stays there, so I know she can do it, but I haven't seen her do it yet. Her baby hair has been thinning quite a bit, but I noticed this last week that her regular hair is starting to come in, so she shouldn't look too bald for long. We love you Hannah!

The Newest Addition...

I gave in!

Meet Izzy!

We simply couldn't resist this time when we saw this little puppy. We been on the list for the Iams adoption service for a long time, (it's over 200 people and they try really, really hard to match the right dog to the right family) and when they sent Sean an email with her profile we thought we might as well drive up and see her.

I took the kids up on Tuesday, and it was a long drive! But when we saw her, we instantly fell in love. Except for Nathan, he was terrified. They brought us into a room set up like a house and he climbed up to the very top of a house and stayed there. He told me he definitely did NOT want a dog. Josh and Isaac loved her! She had lots of energy after coming right out of her kennel and so she ran around a lot, but soon settled down and showed us how she could sit and lay down already. That night when we got home we had a family meeting and decided to get her. We drove back a got her the next day. About five minutes after we got her in the car, Nathan loved her, and has love her every since.

It was a great deal. A free purebred Beagle with a collar, leash, crate, some toys, brush, nail clippers, bed, baby gate, and 5 months of Iams puppy food. She was up for adoptions because she was showing food aggression towards the dogs there and they can't allow that behavior, but she has never shown that towards people. She is great with the kids!

Kindergarten Safety Camp

Nathan attended Kindergarten Safety Camp this past week. Each they learned about a new topic like traffic safety, fire safety, personal safety (poisons and not talking to strangers), bike riding and more. On the last day they learned how to ride the bus and took a field trip to the fire station! Nathan said they have a big fridge in their kitchen. Afterwards they came back for a little graduation ceremony and receive a treat bag with a ID card in it. He had a lot of fun- his favorite part was getting to drive toy Hummers around the parking lot.

Getting his certificate.

Summer Fun

It's been a hot summer and we been finding a lot of fun things to do to beat the heat.

Woodland Mound is a fun wet playground that we've started going to. It has these fun waterslides and fountains to play in. The kids love it, especially on a hot day!

Getting cooled off in the backyard.

Our boys!

When it's 98 degrees and the heat index is 110 degrees, it's not a day to spend outside, so we found some fun things to do inside. One day we made cake mix playdough. Lots of fun and totally edible! (Although our boys were only allowed a bite at a time, having a sugar Nazi for a mother.)

Gooey stuff! I added a bit too much water.

Boys love getting messy!
